When Honoring America’s Veterans (HAV) was founded, it was built on a simple but profound idea: that service to our nation deserves more than a single day of recognition each year—it deserves a lifelong commitment of gratitude and support.
Today, we are proud to share that the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society has named HAV a 2025 recipient of the prestigious Copper Eagle Award. This honor reflects the thousands of hours our volunteers, partners, and communities have invested in keeping the spirit of service alive, not just during designated days to honor and remember our military service members but every day of the year.
Recognition Matters — But So Does Continuity
Moments of recognition, like the Veterans Day parades and award ceremonies, play a vital role in celebrating the courage and sacrifice of our veterans. They offer the public a chance to pause, reflect, and express appreciation. However, real support goes deeper than annual celebrations.
Veterans and their families live with the impact of their service every day—whether that’s adjusting to civilian life, managing physical and emotional wounds, or simply trying to find belonging in their communities. Recognition must be paired with ongoing action, connection, and care.
At HAV, we believe true gratitude is demonstrated year-round:
- Through storytelling that preserves and amplifies veterans’ experiences
- Through programs that strengthen connections between veterans and their local communities
- Through volunteer efforts that help honor veterans and their families
Local Organizations Lead the Way
While national headlines often focus on federal initiatives, real change often begins at the local level. Grassroots organizations like HAV create the personal connections that transform gratitude into impact.
Through our signature events—like the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, —HAV brings communities together to not just say “thank you,” but to show it through ongoing engagement. We work to ensure that veterans of all eras, and their families, feel seen, valued, and supported.
Every school that invites a veteran to speak, every business that hires a veteran, every neighborhood that lines the streets to wave flags at a parade—these actions matter. They are the threads that weave veterans into the daily fabric of our society, not just into a singular national holiday.
Moving Forward: A Call to Action
As we celebrate this incredible milestone of receiving the Copper Eagle Award, we are also recommitting ourselves to our founding mission: to honor, support, and recognize our nation’s veterans every day.
We invite you—our partners, our neighbors, and our supporters—to continue this journey with us. Let’s build communities where veterans and their families feel celebrated and supported, not just once a year, but always.
Together, we can turn moments of recognition into a lasting legacy of gratitude.
